The building was originally built as a hotel in the late 1890's. Through the years it has served as stage-stop, general store, hotel, cafe and convenience store. Our family has owned and operated The Rand Store since 1972.
Now visitors are pleasantly surprised when they walk through the doors to find an amazing selection of books, gourmet chocolates, specialty treats, lodge-style home décor and gifts.
We are located in Rand on Colorado State Highway 125, a scenic route between Rocky Mountain National Park and Yellowstone National Park. While in the area, plan to see the Moose Visitor Center near Gould on Highway 14. You can also take an auto-tour at the Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge located between Rand and Walden on State Highway 125.
Visitors are drawn to the Rand area for the gorgeous views, outdoor adventure and the possibility of seeing a variety of wildlife. Moose are the big draw after being transplanted to the area in 1978 and they have been thriving here ever since. Elk, Mule Deer and Antelope are also abundant in the area. If you're lucky, you may even see a Black Bear!
When you visit The Rand Store you'll have access to information on hiking trails, the latest moose sightings or fishing information on Rainbow, Cutthroat, Brown and Brook trout.
Because of winter weather, we are a seasonal business open mid May until mid November, so call before you venture this way.
We hope to see you soon!
Welcome to The Rand Store!
It has been a pleasure to have your business for the past 43 years. Thank you very much!
We will re-open in May 2016.
